Types Of Bark Collars

Nowadays, a rolled up newspaper or a mile- long leash just doesn’t do the trick. As dogs’ color, breed and disposition vary, so do their temperament and disposition. Today, for the love of dogs, manufacturers have come up with the: e-collar. Today, there are three categories of these bark collars to choose from. Each of these are distinct in feature and application.

The Shock Collar This bark collar system consists of a collar strap (usually nylon weaved), a battery-operated attachment and a control transmitter. The strap is adjustable and can be purchased according to your pets average breed collar size. The contraption, which is strapped on the collar, is small, lightweight and waterproof. The settings include:
  • Sound sensor – a built-in microphone that can isolate your pets barking from other sounds in the home. This sensor also relies on the vibration of the dogs’ throat
  • Automatic level adjustments – level of aid training system can be reduced or increased. In case your dog strays, your transmitter can disable the collar.
  • Counter- some state of the art bark collars have this feature that helps a dog owner keep track of how often their pets misbehaved while on their own.
The Shock Bark Collar is mostly chosen by owners whose pets need restraint and basic discipline.

The Ultra Sonic Bark Collar As the name suggests, this collar uses sound as a medium to "reprimand" your pet. This no- bark training supplement is also worn on a collar by your pet. There are two modes available, Ultrasonic (inaudible) and sonic (audible). Depending on the level adjustment, which is also available, your pet would either hear a constant high-pitched signal or a radical pattern fluctuating pitch. It also features a warning sound that a dog can identify to as a desensitizing command.

The Citronella Bark Collar This category of e-collars relies on the dogs’ keen sense of smell to be able to aid in disciplining. This pet training aid has an adjustable collar where the mini spray is clipped on. Just like the shock collar, the auto spray is controlled by the dog's vocal cords. This product can be disabled by remote, too. The mist is from Citronella oil extract that is popular as a natural insect repellant. At worst, during your training, your dog will be the furriest herb-smelling pet in the world.

Here are tips to help you pick the right Bark Collar for you: identify your dogs behavior problem; choose long-time manufacturers (for quality, experience and innovation) and lastly READ the manual before you strap on the contraption on your beloved pet.
